Web Tools

Web Tool No. 1: Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com/)

Photobucket is a website that allows you to post your pictures and videos and share them with the world. It also allows you to edit your pictures with all sorts of different background and provides you with the HTML code so that you are able to post your edited pictures in any other websites to share with the world. It also allows you to create a video of your own pictures and post it on other websites to share with others. It has a 3D Avatar which allows you to create a picture to represent oneself. There are functions where you can choose whether you want to represent yourself with short or long hair and post the picture for others to see. It also helps organize your pictures in a photo album so that viewing of your pictures is easy. Buying of images is available too, where we can use images of children in various activities and to demonstrate what is expected by the teacher to the children. The videos in Photobucket provides information of children in different countries. This helps teachers to understand that children are taught differently in different countries and suggests ways of helping foreign children to adapt with the new environment.

Web Tool No. 2: 5min (http://www.5min.com/)

5min is a website where you can post videos and also view videos which others around the world posted. All videos are within the time limit of 5 mins. They are all instructional and 5min believes in providing a solution to questions through a short 5 min video. It has different catergories and covers almost anything under the sun. It also provides videos on Parenting which helps in teaching especially in the Early Childhood Field where teachers, for example, can find ways in working with parents. When teachers needs a question answered, visit 5min and answers are provided through a video and not through boring articles professionals wrote.

Compare and Contrast:

Both websites allows people to post videos although 5min only allows videos and no pictures. The content in the websites are different as Photobucket allows more sharing of photos and videos which are more casual and of a wide range whearas 5min provides only instructional videos. Both websites allows people to share with the world through videos and for Photobucket, pictures as well.
